It's basically an extremely simple electrolysis kit with less than 2$ Bill of Material
What you need is:
- 2 used AA battery:
- 1 any USB cable
- A small piece of foam or wood
- Either a power bank or a USB charger.
Step 1:
- Take the graphite electrode inside the battery. It's right inside the core, so please be careful when you try to pull it out.
Step 2:
- Cut the USB cable. Take the USB-type B half, there should be 4 small cable inside (Tx, Rx, VND, GND). Strip red and black cables, and cut out the rest (you don't need those).
Step 3:
- connect the red cable to 1 graphite electrode, and black to the other. Use hot glue to seal off the exposed part.
Step 4
- space 1cm apart and glue them to the electrode or foam. Create a small cut to latch the entire set up on a cup.
DONE.
How to make Neutral Electrolyzed Water ?
It's basically electrolysis without membrane of salt water. It's a super awesome disinfectant.
Read more about it here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrolysed_water
Step 1:
Mix salt and water. It's better to be pure salt (100% NaCl) and pure water, but tap water is fine, too.
If it is saturated, the conductitivy will be high and the experiment can be faster. But then more chlorine gas will be generated, so do it in ventilated area
Step 2:
Put the Chlorinator in. Plug the USB to a USB power bank or a USB charger.
Step 3:
Wait patiently. The reaction will take place as the bubble are generated.
Step 4:
Since we have no instrument to test out the concentration, I will take a guide line of 1hr per 100ml of saturated water.
Wait patiently, and after 1hr, you have your own solution of Neutral Electrolyzed Water
