My favourite book for every instrument engineer: How to Become an Instrument Engineer by Gregory K. McMillan and Stanley Weirner.

It's just an ultra humorous book with summary of tips and tricks in instrument engineering in dealing with both technical and human factor of the trade. A bit old and outdated (1987) with a lot of terms not in used anymore, but the gist of everything still there.
