I built this hydrocyclone to remove sand in our dissolved salt solution before further processing to made soy sauce. Sand is naturally occured in salt, and can cause a lot of issue in the downstream. It also affect consumer sensory, so remove it from salt is good.
this design should also be implemented in making salt, where sand removal is crucial of making high quality salt.
The design is pretty compact, with capacity designed for 20m3/hr, cut off at 200 micron and not too hgih pressure drop. I used a 4kW pump to perform this removal and transfer (alfa laval lkh10?). You should totally refer to the calculation spread sheet for design validation before applying to your own system
